House Bengal

Maison Bengal was founded in 2004 to help fight poverty in Bangladesh.

The products are made with love and are practical and durable.

By working individually with mothers and young women from local groups across the country, Maison Bengal promotes weaving and basketry in highly marginalized communities. Locally grown natural materials such as jute and hogla (local seaweed) are processed. In contemporary designs, women create a wide range of hand-woven products. This process has taken many years of commitment and is rewarding and steady work that lives on. Maison Bengal works with over five thousand women across Bangladesh who can work in their home environment, enabling them to both care for their families and support them financially.
